ZW32‑40.5F Outdoor Intelligent Vacuum Circuit Breaker
ZW32‑40.5F Intelligent Vacuum Circuit Breaker

General Description
ZW32‑40.5F intelligent vacuum circuit breaker is specially designed for medium‑voltage overhead power grids. It is used to switch load current, overload current and short‑circuit current.
Key Features
- High Reliability: Adopts integrated solid‑embedded pole. The longitudinal magnetic‑field arc‑control technology of vacuum interrupter ensures strong breaking capacity.
- Maintenance‑free: No maintenance required throughout the whole service life. (A power‑frequency withstand voltage test is recommended every 3 years.)
- Long Service Life: Mechanical endurance: 10 000 operations; rated short‑circuit breaking: 30 times.
- Light‑weight Design: Total weight approx. 450 kg. Supports single‑pole and double‑pole mounting.
Service Environmental Conditions
- Temperature range: ‑30 ℃ ~ +60 ℃ (Storage temperature: ‑40 ℃ ~ +85 ℃).
- Altitude: <2000 m (High‑altitude version for >3000 m, custom‑made required).
- Ambient requirements: Wind speed ≤34 m/s, pollution class IV, no flammable‑explosive substances and no severe vibration sites.
- Special adaptability: Ice‑coating thickness ≤10 mm, seismic intensity ≤ Grade 8.
Note: Customization shall be consulted with the manufacturer for out‑of‑range environmental conditions.
Structure and Working Principle
1. Component Composition
- Sealed‑pole: Vacuum interrupter filled with silicone compound, anti‑condensation design.
- Operating mechanism: Modular spring mechanism (solenoid mechanism optional), supports motor / manual energy storage.
- Expansion module: Built‑in current transformer (accuracy class 0.2), non‑contact live‑line sensor.
2. Arc‑extinguishing Principle
When contacts open, a longitudinal magnetic field is generated to spread and burn the vacuum arc evenly. The arc is extinguished within micro‑seconds at current zero‑crossing, and insulation strength is restored.
3. Operation Sequence
- Energy Storage: ○ Motor operation: Motor drives gear for energy storage; limit switch cuts off power automatically. ○ Manual operation: Rotate output shaft to compress the closing spring.
- Closing: Solenoid pushes trip lever to release latch constraint; spring releases energy to drive the connecting rod.
- Opening: Opening coil action or over‑current trip unit triggers mechanical unlocking.
- Reclosing: Automatic energy‑storage after closing. It supports the cycle of “Open ‑0.1s‑ Close‑Open ‑3s‑ Close‑Open”.
Installation and Commissioning
1. Unpacking Inspection
- Confirm the insulating housing is undamaged, nameplate parameters are consistent with the order, and all accessories are complete (including certificate of conformity, instruction manual and test report).
- Verify that the operating voltage and current‑transformer ratio match actual requirements.
2. Installation Procedures
- Base Fixing: Securely install with M20 foundation anchor bolts.
- Wiring Verification: Check that main circuit and secondary control wiring are correctly connected.
- Function Test: ○ Perform manual closing‑opening operations 3 times to confirm no mechanism jamming. ○ Simulate motor‑driven operation to test closing / opening time and phase synchronism.
3. Safety Interlocks
- Three‑axis mechanical interlock for disconnector, circuit‑breaker and earthing switch to prevent mis‑operation.
- Cabinet‑door locking device requires no adjustment to ensure safe operation.
Intelligent Control Function
The supporting controller provides:
- Protection functions: Instantaneous trip, over‑current protection, zero‑sequence protection, three‑shot reclosing (adjustable time‑delay).
- Communication management: Remote control via RS485 / Optical fiber / GPRS, realizing four‑remote functions (remote metering, remote adjustment, remote control, remote signalling).
- Fault record: Stores up to 255 event logs; data retention period is 10 years.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
- Routine maintenance: Remove surface dirt and check the condition of fasteners.
- Periodic test: Power‑frequency withstand voltage test shall be carried out every 3 years.
- Prohibited items: ○ Replace electrical components of non‑original specifications; ○ Disassemble the sealed‑pole without authorization.
